Terms and Conditions

Last Updated: 15/10/2025

Welcome to The Doggie Groomers.
By booking an appointment, visiting the salon, or using our website, you agree to the following terms and conditions. These are in place to protect both your dog’s welfare and the professional standards of the salon.

General Information

  • The Doggie Groomers is owned and operated by Julie Moon,
  • Business address: Viking Centre, Jarrow, Tyne and Wear.
  • Contact: 07518 063 318 | contact@thedoggiegroomers.com
  • These Terms and Conditions apply to all grooming services, online enquiries, and bookings made by clients.

Appointments and Bookings

  • All appointments must be booked in advance via phone, Facebook Messenger, or through our website.
  • Please arrive on time for your appointment. Early arrivals may need to wait if another dog is being groomed.
  • Late arrivals may shorten the grooming time or result in rescheduling at Julie’s discretion.
  • Regular grooming appointments are recommended every 6–8 weeks for coat maintenance and comfort.

Cancellations and No-Shows

  • At least 48 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
  • Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice may incur a 50% fee of the booked service.
  • Missed appointments or “no-shows” will be charged the full amount of the booked service.
  • Repeated cancellations or missed appointments may result in refusal of future bookings.

Dog Welfare and Behaviour

  • Your dog’s wellbeing is always the priority. Grooming will only proceed if your dog is comfortable and it is safe to do so.
  • If your dog becomes excessively stressed or aggressive, grooming may be paused or stopped.
  • Recognised safety methods may be used (such as a soft cone or comfort towel) to ensure safety for both the dog and groomer.
  • You must inform Julie of any health issues, allergies, or behavioural concerns before your appointment.

Health and Coat Condition

  • Dogs must be up to date with flea and worm treatments before their appointment.
  • If fleas are found, the groom will continue where possible, and a salon cleaning fee will apply due to required fumigation and product disposal.
  • Severely matted coats may need to be clipped short in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act 2006, to prevent pain or distress.
  • A health check is carried out at every appointment. Any lumps, bumps, or skin issues noticed will be noted and discussed with you.

Teeth Cleaning

  • Teeth cleaning is a non-invasive service designed to maintain oral hygiene and reduce bacteria.
  • Julie holds a Canine Dental qualification to carry out this procedure safely.
  • Any tartar build-up requiring invasive or veterinary treatment will be referred to your vet.

Photos and Social Media

  • Photos or short videos may occasionally be taken of dogs after their groom for use on The Doggie Groomers’ social media or website.
  • Images will only be used respectfully and never in a way that identifies owners without consent.
  • Please let Julie know if you prefer your dog not to be photographed.

Payments

  • Payment is due in full at the end of each appointment.
  • Accepted methods: cash or bank transfer only.
  • Card machines are not used to keep costs low for clients.

Late Collections

  • Please collect your dog promptly when contacted.
  • A late collection fee may apply if the dog remains at the salon for more than 30 minutes after the agreed pick-up time.
  • This ensures a calm and safe environment for all dogs.

Pricing and Quotes

  • All prices are starting rates and depend on breed, coat condition, and behaviour.
  • Additional time for matted coats, fleas, or reactive behaviour may incur extra charges.
  • Quotes will always be confirmed after consultation and before grooming begins.

Salon Access and Safety

  • When arriving, please ring the doorbell and wait for Julie to open the door.
  • The salon door operates on a magnetic release system for dog safety.
  • Dogs must be on a secure lead or in a carrier when entering and leaving.

Liability

  • The Doggie Groomers takes all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of your dog.
  • However, grooming can occasionally expose pre-existing health issues, or cause minor nicks or irritation due to matting, coat type, or skin sensitivity.
  • By booking, you accept that these rare risks are inherent in grooming and that Julie cannot be held responsible for conditions discovered during the process.

Website and Privacy

  • Our website is built on WordPress and uses cookies to enhance user experience.
  • For details on how personal information is collected, stored, and used, please refer to our Privacy Policy available on the website.
  • By using the website or contact form, you consent to data handling as described in that policy.

Legal Compliance

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
By booking a service, you confirm that you understand and agree to these terms.
